Wire-Lists #48 – 19 Easy Steps to Replacing Your SR Keypad

Social Media WireLists48 350pxWhile most repairs should be done by us at the factory, there are some that you can do yourself. If the buttons on your SR receiver seem “soft” (they no longer “click” when pressed) or are slow to respond, or the keypad looks the worse for wear, you can easily replace it.

Before you begin, assemble the following tools:

  • SR Keypad. For SR, SRa and SRb, the Lectrosonics Part Number is 48093. For the SRc, it is 48626.
  • Static grounding strap*
  • Small flathead and Phillips head screwdrivers
  • Small needle nose pliers or electronics tweezers
  • GooGone or similar adhesive remover
  • Lint-free wipe or paper towel
  • Soldering iron and solder wick
  • (Optional) Black Sharpie

* Static electricity can damage circuit boards, so the strap is essential. Wearing a grounding strap dissipates the charge to a ground instead of to the item that you’re working on. Digi-Key, for example, offers Static Control Field Kits that contain a safety mat along with the strap.

Tip: We provide Part Numbers for screws and various components named in this list. It’s always a good idea to have extras on hand in the event that one is lost or damaged. Call our Service Department and request a Small Parts Order.

Important: Always maintain proper personal safety and ESD (electrostatic discharge) prevention procedures when doing work of this type.

NOTE: All keypads have a fixed-diameter opening for the antenna, as can be seen below. If your SR receiver has the “fixed “style of antennas, a small amount of aluminum will be seen around the antenna base. If you find this visual appearance unsightly, we suggest using a black Sharpie to darken the bright aluminum in the open area before you adhere the keypad.
    Step18
  19. Reverse Steps 1-13 to reassemble your unit.
