SB1014 – ACCEPTABLE AA BATTERY TYPES TO USE WITH LECTROSONICS EQUIPMENT

Service Advisory:

With the expanding variety of AA batteries on the market, customers should be advised on which types can and cannot be used with Lectrosonics equipment.  Lectrosonics transmitters, receivers, and any other device that uses AA batteries are designed and tested to operate with 1.5V cells.  Most units will shut down when battery cells are below 1.0V.

Please see the listings below for common recommended battery types, and types that need to be avoided:

Recommended:

  • Alkaline, 1.5V, single-use
  • Primary Lithium, 1.5V, single-use
  • Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH), 1.2V, rechargeable
  • Lithium-Ion, 1.5V, rechargeable

Do Not Use:

  • Lithium-Ion, 3.6-3.7V, rechargeable
    – Output voltage is too high for Lectrosonics equipment. Damage is likely to occur.  Damage from these batteries is not covered under warranty.
  • Nickel Cadmium (NiCd), 1.2V, rechargeable
    – Not enough overall power to operate effectively

Important Note:  Lithium batteries contain cells that can be charged up to 4.2V.  Internal regulators set the output voltage of the battery.  As stated above, lithium batteries regulated down to 1.5V are good to use with Lectrosonics equipment.  Lithium batteries regulated down to 3.6-3.7V or other voltages above 1.5V must not be used.
