Firmware: SMWB & SMDWB - Lectrosonics

Firmware updates are now available for users outside the United States to enable simultaneous recording and transmitting in non-U.S. models. Only the SM(D)WB/X, SM(D)WB/E01 and SM(D)WB/E06 models are eligible for this update.

If you are located outside of the United States or Canada, and your transmitter’s model number does not include /E01, /E06, or /X, please email service.repair@lectrosonics.com or call 505-892-4501 for more details.

These instructions should be followed exactly. Attempting to bypass steps or load the incorrect firmware into a unit may result in the unit not functioning properly. If this occurs, we can help, but it will be at the unit owner’s expense, including shipping costs both ways.

Users with existing units in Canada will be required to send their units, at their own expense, to the Lectrosonics Factory for the upgrade. To arrange for this, please email service.repair@lectrosonics.com or call 505-892-4501 for more details.

Below are links to current firmware update files for the SMWB and SMDWB transmitter series.

These are zip files: after downloading extract them into a temporary folder. Copy the firmware files to an SD card and install in accordance with the instructions found in the SMWB Series Instruction Manual. If you have any questions or encounter problems while updating the firmware please contact the factory for assistance.

How do I decide which firmware version is right for my transmitter?

If you have an SMWB or SMDWB transmitter:

If you have SMWB version 8.xx firmware, use only SMWB version 8.xx firmware, version 8.xx FPGA firmware, and boot loader version 8.03. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_m814-f808-b803.zip.
If you have SMWB version 7.xx firmware, use only SMWB version 7.xx firmware and boot loader version 2.04. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_m719-b204.zip.
If you have SMWB version 6.xx firmware, use only SMWB version 6.xx firmware and boot loader version 1.05. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_m668-b105.zip.

If you have an SMWB/E01 or SMDWB/E01 transmitter:

If you have SMWB/E01 version 8.xx firmware, use only SMWB/E01 version 8.xx firmware, version 8.xx FPGA firmware, and boot loader version 8.03. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_e01_m814-f808-b803.zip.
If you have SMWB/E01 version 2.xx firmware, use only SMWB/E01 version 2.xx firmware and boot loader version 2.04. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_e01_m216-b204.zip.
If you have SMWB/E01 version 1.xx firmware, use only SMWB/E01 version 1.xx firmware and boot loader version 1.05. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_e01_m160-b105.zip.

If you have an SMWB/E06 or SMDWB/E06 transmitter:

If you have SMWB/E07 version 2.xx firmware, use only SMWB/E07 version 2.xx firmware and boot loader version 2.04. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_e07_m216-b204.zip.
If you have SMWB/E07 version 1.xx firmware, use only SMWB/E07 version 1.xx firmware and boot loader version 1.05. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_e07_m160-b105.zip.

If you have an SMWB/X or SMDWB/X transmitter:

If you have SMWB/X version 8.xx firmware, use only SMWB/X version 8.xx firmware and boot loader version 8.03. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_x_m814-f808-b803.zip.
If you have SMWB/X version 2.xx firmware, use only SMWB/X version 2.xx firmware and boot loader version 2.04. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_x_m216-b204.zip.
If you have SMWB/X version 1.xx firmware, use only SMWB/X version 1.xx firmware and boot loader version 1.05. These are bundled into a single file for download: smwb_x_m160-b105.zip.

Firmware download files include a bootloader file. You don’t need to install this if your installed bootloader is the current version. The bootloader version is displayed when you enter firmware update mode. To do this, press and hold the UP and DOWN arrow buttons, then press the power button to turn the transmitter on. The bootloader version appears at the top of the screen, for example “LDR 1.04”.

Be careful!

Do not install a version 8.xx bootloader in transmitters with a version 1.xx or 2.xx bootloader!
Do not install a version 2.xx bootloader in a transmitter with a 1.xx bootloader!
Do not install a version 1.xx bootloader in a transmitter with a 2.xx bootloader!
